Uncle, 8-year-old nephew die in Klang shoplot blaze

Shah Alam witnessed a tragic incident this evening, as a fire broke out in a three-storey shoplot in Taman Bayu Perdana, Klang, claiming two lives and leaving two others injured. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 5.51pm, and their personnel arrived on the scene eight minutes later. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the blaze on the second floor of a Class A building, which sustained about 90% damage.

According to family information, four individuals were present in the building, two of whom were rescued by bystanders. The remaining two victims, identified as a 66-year-old man and an eight-year-old boy, were found trapped in separate toilets around 6.33pm. Both victims succumbed to their injuries after being rescued. The two survivors, who experienced breathing difficulties, were taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) for treatment.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's forensic team, along with its K9 unit, initiated preliminary investigations to determine the cause of the fire. The building has been handed over to the department's Fire Investigation Unit for further action, and firefighting operations were concluded at 10.05pm. The South Klang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey, confirmed the incident and stated that an official statement would be issued soon.
