In the first quarter of 2026 alone, 75 data center projects faced organized local resistance, representing a combined $130 billion in investments.

Major banks and private equity firms are funding these projects, and the financial risk faced by these investors is increasing. One anonymous senior official at a foreign lending firm stated that investors have adjusted their risk calculations, similar to how frogs adapt to rising temperatures.
