Umno Pahang terbuka kerjasama PAS, kata Wan Rosdy

Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Vice President of Umno, stated that cooperation between his party and PAS in Pahang for the upcoming PRU16 is not impossible. In fact, he said his party has already opened the door for cooperation with any political party, including PAS, if it benefits and brings goodness to the people of the state. "We are open," he said, according to Utusan Malaysia.

However, he added that no formal discussions have taken place between the two parties at this point. The Pahang Chief Minister emphasized that the main focus of the state leadership is currently to continue serving the people, rather than contemplating political disunity for the PRU. Yesterday, PAS Advisor for Pahang, Rosli Abdul Jabar, reportedly said that the party is ready to cooperate with any party in the upcoming election if efforts to unite Malay parties fail.

According to Rosli, while PAS places the agenda of religious unity as its top priority, the party has not yet held any formal discussions regarding cooperation with the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state. Earlier, Umno Chief of Staff Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin was reported to have said that the approach used in Negeri Sembilan may not necessarily be applicable in Pahang or other states, referring to cooperation between BN and the People's Alliance (PN).

He noted that each state has its own unique circumstances. Currently, Pahang is governed by a combined BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) government formed after the PRU15, as no party won a clear majority to form the state government alone. In the last election, BN won 17 state seats, while PN controlled 17 seats and PH secured eight seats.
