Umno Pahang terbuka kerjasama PAS, kata Wan Rosdy

Umno Deputy President Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail expressed openness to cooperation with PAS in Pahang's upcoming general election (PRU16) if it benefits the people of the state, according to Utusan Malaysia. He emphasized that their party is open to collaboration with any political party, including PAS, without exclusivity. However, no formal discussions have taken place yet between the two parties.

Currently, the focus of Pahang's leadership is on continuing to serve the people rather than contemplating political fragmentation ahead of PRU16. Meanwhile, PAS Pahang Advisor Rosli Abdul Jabar suggested that the party is ready to unite with any party in the upcoming election if efforts to unite Malay parties fail. Rosli noted that while PAS prioritizes unity of the ummah, the party has not had any formal conversations regarding cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state.

Earlier, Umno Senior Working Committee Member Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin reportedly stated that the approach used in Negeri Sembilan may not be applicable to Pahang or other states, referring to cooperation between BN and the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PKN). He added that each state has its unique circumstances. Currently, Pahang is governed by a combined BN-Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration formed after PRU15 when no single party secured a clear majority to form a state government independently.

During the last election, BN won 17 seats in the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN), PKN held 17 seats, and PH secured eight seats.
