Ukraine war latest: 4 Russian warships damaged in strike on Black Sea Fleet port in Novorossiysk

On August 12, four Russian warships sustained damage following a Ukrainian strike on the Black Sea Fleet port in Novorossiysk, according to the General Staff. The vessels affected included two frigates, a missile ship and a patrol ship. President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed Ukraine utilized drones, anti-ship cruise missiles and naval drones in the operation, which targeted a naval base over 300 kilometers from the front line.

The attack resulted in the death of an 8-year-old Ukrainian boy and injuries to eight others, including a child, as reported by regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev. At least 21 residential buildings and four businesses were damaged by falling debris from the drones. Ukrainian forces have liberated 745 square kilometers in the Oleksandrivka sector since January, with nearly 10,000 Russian soldiers killed or wounded during the counteroffensive in late January.

The Ukraine Liberation Front announced a shortage of food and water among Ukrainian troops on the front line, with the command promising evacuation when the security situation permits.
