Tata Sons' Chandrasekaran resigns amid tension with group's controlling charity arm

This decision comes amidst growing tensions with the charity arm, Tata Trusts, which controls a majority stake in the conglomerate. The 63-year-old Chandrasekaran has been at odds with Tata Trusts over various issues, including whether Tata Sons should be listed, the airline Air India's losses, the planned exit of a minority shareholder, and board representation.

Disagreements between the two sides have been ongoing for the past few months, with no resolution reached since a board meeting in February. No statement has been issued by Tata Trusts regarding Chandrasekaran's resignation.
