Syria condemns Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over Golan Heights

Syria has vehemently condemned Colombia's decision to acknowledge Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, denouncing it as a breach of international law. In a statement released by the Syrian Arab News Agency, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates categorically rejected the Colombian government's stance, emphasizing that the Golan Heights is an integral part of Syria.

The ministry maintained that this move is based on security considerations that contradict international law and pertinent UN resolutions. They asserted that the Colombian statement represents a blatant violation of the UN Charter and the UN Secretary-General's declarations affirming the Golan Heights as a part of Syria. The ministry also highlighted the principle against acquiring territory through force, citing the 1981 UN Security Council resolution.
