S'porean Sammyboy Forum user, 50, had videos of female toilet users & shared 67 obscene images, jailed

A 50-year-old Singaporean man, Winston Liow Boon Hin, was jailed for two months and five weeks after pleading guilty to possessing voyeuristic recordings and transmitting obscene images on the online platform Sammyboy Forum. According to prosecutors, Liow was arrested at the Concorde Hotel and Shopping Mall in May 2022 on suspicion of voyeuristic activities.

His phone was seized and later found to contain 10 voyeuristic recordings and 40 upskirt images of unidentified individuals. Liow had been a regular user of Sammyboy Forum since his National Service days. The prosecution noted that Liow had a history of sexual offenses, including a 2003 conviction for possessing obscene films and a 2017 conviction for outrage of modesty.

Despite not being involved in creating the images, Liow was still sentenced due to the significant intrusion into the privacy of the victims. The prosecution sought a term of between two months and five weeks and two months and seven weeks, which was later approved by the court. Liow's defense argued that the images were not obscene and were shared to showcase his interests, but the court dismissed this claim.

Liow, who worked as a safety officer for eight years, expressed remorse for his actions and has since stopped taking such photos. His employer valued his honesty and was prepared to consider re-employment after his release, subject to management approval.
