Sakaja: I will be re-elected for a second term

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced his intention to seek re-election for a second term, aiming to be the first Nairobi City County governor to serve two full terms. During an interview, the former senator stated that the current practice of one-term governorships has hindered the progress and continuity of development in the city.

He pledged to complete the development projects he inherited from previous administrations while also introducing new initiatives during his first term. The governor expressed confidence that Nairobi residents would grant him another opportunity to serve, advocating for their support based on his achievements and future plans. Sakaja hinted at a potential shift in political allegiance, suggesting he might align with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following discussions with figures such as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.

This potential move could signal a departure from his current affiliation with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). As political parties and leaders prepare for the 2027 General Election, Sakaja's re-election bid is anticipated to draw considerable political attention in Nairobi.
