Saif's father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was a celebrated Indian cricketer and team captain, while his grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, led India in Test matches in 1946 and represented England in 1932 and 1934. Saif's son, Taimur Ali Khan, has also delved into cricket, attending private coaching sessions at Lord's Cricket Ground in London, led by former England international Usman Afzaal.

Taimur has learned about the family's cricket history from his father, who shared insights into county cricket and the careers of his grandfather and great-grandfather. Reflecting on his father, Saif described Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi as a man of few words who communicated everything that mattered to the family. He acknowledged his father's quiet nature and his role in fostering a belief in Indian players to compete and win in world cricket.
