Ruto hails Nyong’o, Hino for laying foundation for Vision 2060

President William Ruto expressed appreciation to a group of respected scholars, headed by Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o and Prof Hiroyuki Hino, for establishing the intellectual groundwork for Kenya's discourse on its long-term development plan beyond Vision 2030. Ruto announced this during the kickoff of a nationwide discussion on Kenya's long-term development vision at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

He noted that as Vision 2030 draws to a close, they convened to embark on a crucial conversation: "What lies ahead?" Ruto commended the scholars for their valuable intellectual input as Kenya embarks on crafting a new long-term framework to steer the nation towards 2060. The conversation aims to unite Kenyans from various sectors in deliberations about the country's future, identifying key priorities that could shape its development over the ensuing decades.

The process is set to gather insights from government bodies, academic institutions, private enterprises, civil society organizations, religious groups, youth movements, and other key stakeholders. Ruto emphasized that the nation's forthcoming long-term development blueprint should be built on broad public involvement and anchored in the Constitution.

He also stressed that the process should transcend political and electoral cycles, aiming to forge a unified national vision that successive administrations can uphold. The scholars' contribution was crucial in supplying the necessary intellectual and technical foundation to steer the discussions and assist Kenya in formulating a long-term development agenda that resonates with the aspirations of its populace.
