Rubbish lorry crashes through Pantai Hillpark condo wall, crushes three cars

KUALA LUMPUR, August 12 — A rubbish lorry, possibly experiencing brake failure, veered off the road and crashed into a condominium boundary wall in Pantai Hillpark, crushing three cars early today. Traffic investigation and enforcement department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa revealed that the incident took place around 4.10am as the lorry was descending a straight, sloping road.

The driver, a 41-year-old local man, sustained a left leg injury and was promptly taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for treatment. Police swiftly searched for the driver, who was found receiving medical care at the hospital. Two Bangladeshi workers, aged around 25, were working on rubbish collection in the vicinity at the time of the accident but were unharmed as they were on the road.

The lorry driver arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station at 3.15pm to file a report. Breathalyser results showed no alcohol in the driver's system, indicating no impairment. The incident will be investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving, and the lorry will be sent to Puspakom for a comprehensive examination to determine the exact cause of the collision.
