Rhea Chakraborty recalls earning Rs 3 lakh as MTV VJ at 17: ‘Spent it on fixing my face’

Rhea Chakraborty has recounted her experiences as a young MTV VJ in a recent conversation with comedian Tanmay Bhat. At the age of 17 or 18, she was earning a significant salary of Rs 3 lakh as a VJ. Rhea revealed that she spent her earnings on improving her appearance, stating, "I think Rs 3 lakh was my last salary. But I was just 17-18 years old, so I really thought I was damn rich.

Spent this money on fixing my face." This candid confession led to a humorous exchange with Tanmay, where he jokingly asked if he should also get his face "fixed." Rhea playfully agreed, pointing out the advanced cosmetic technology available today. The conversation then shifted to Rhea's career, which began as a VJ before she made her acting debut in the Telugu film Tuneega Tuneega in 2012.

She later transitioned to Bollywood with films like Mere Dad Ki Maruti and others. However, her personal life became the subject of intense media scrutiny after her relationship with actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Following his tragic death in 2020, she faced allegations in connection with the case and was arrested in a drugs-related investigation.

Rhea was later granted bail, and in March 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation concluded that her death was a "simple case of suicide" with no evidence of involvement by herself or others. Despite the media attention, Rhea returned to the entertainment industry in 2023 and is now set to appear in the second season of The Traitors, hosted by Karan Johar.
