Rare solar eclipse sweeps Europe as millions watch celestial spectacle

A rare solar eclipse has swept across Europe, captivating millions who gathered to witness this celestial spectacle. The eclipse began its journey in Iceland, with totality visible in select regions of Portugal and Spain. Those in other parts of Europe observed the moon covering a significant portion of the sun.

In London, people gathered at Northala Fields to observe the partial solar eclipse, creating silhouettes against the sky as they watched the moon pass over the sun's horizon near the Monviso mountain in Bene Vagienna, Italy. The diamond ring effect was visible as the Sun emerged from behind the Moon following totality in Berlanga de Duero, northeast of Madrid.

The Sun's corona glowed brilliantly during the totality phase of the total solar eclipse, clearly seen from Berlanga de Duero. Viewers in Bize-Minervois, southwestern France, also marveled at the partial solar eclipse, using special protective glasses to safely view the event. More than 90 percent of the Sun was blocked by the Moon across Britain, drawing crowds to witness this rare occurrence from various locations, including Primrose Hill in London.

The moon's passage over the sun's horizon was observed on the Noirmoutier island in western France, and similar sightings were reported in Hemiksem. Photographs from Spain, Austria, and Tunisia's Nabeul province captured the awe-inspiring moment when the moon blocked the Sun, leaving a mesmerizing view of the solar corona glowing in the sky.
