Ranbir Kapoor hits back at ‘CGI critics’ slamming Ramayana after watching trailer on phones

The team associated with the upcoming Ramayana adaptation, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, have responded to criticism regarding the film's CGI quality. The controversy arose after the teaser and trailer were released online, where it received backlash for its disappointing visual effects. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the title role of Rama, addressed the issue, pointing out that the growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has led to a large number of online "CG critics" who judge the film's CGI while watching it on their smartphones.

He emphasized that it takes countless hours and years of work for artists to create authentic CGI, and it is challenging to impress the audience with such advanced visual effects. Namit Malhotra, co-producer of the film, argued that those criticizing the VFX while watching the trailer on their phones should watch it in IMAX and in 3D to truly appreciate the effort that has gone into the film.

The producer referred to the criticism as "noise" and claimed that they have been trying to educate a large number of creators and influencers to give a fair appraisal based on what the film is intended to be. VFX director Nitesh Tiwari revealed that the team is currently working on the finishing touches for the VFX work, which is a daunting task as some sequences have taken two-and-a-half to three years.

The film, which will be released in two parts on Diwali this year and next year, is co-produced by Prime Focus and Kannada superstar Yash's Monster Mind Works.
