Quetta to Get Rs. 300 Billion Bus Rapid Transit Project

The Balochistan government announced plans to launch a modern Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Quetta, Pakistan's provincial capital. This decision follows the introduction of similar mass transit systems in several other major cities across the country. The project aims to enhance public transportation in Quetta.

Five foreign companies have shown interest in conducting a feasibility study for the BRT project. It is expected that one of these companies will be chosen to undertake the study. The government plans to commence practical work on the project once it receives the feasibility study report and evaluates its recommendations.

The total cost of the Quetta BRT project is projected to exceed Rs. 300 billion, according to Transport Department officials. The authorities anticipate completing the project by 2032. Quetta will join a list of other major Pakistani cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, and Peshawar, that have adopted BRT systems.
