Currently, government hospitals, government teaching hospitals, and a limited number of private hospitals are extending services to the public through the ABHA cards, adhering to NMC norms.
However, private colleges have yet to comply with this requirement. During a workshop at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) in Vijayawada, Mr. Veerapandian disclosed that 5.04 crore ABHA accounts have been created in the state so far. "By utilizing the ABHA IDs, electronic health records (EHRs) are generated, which encompass patients' details," he explained.
Regardless of the number of visits a patient makes to a hospital, the relevant health information can be recorded in their EHR, he added. K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, the Health and Family Welfare Commissioner, stated that if private medical colleges integrate the Health Management Information System (HMIS) with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), patients' health information would become readily available.
This would facilitate doctors in quickly comprehending a patient's medical history, thereby simplifying the treatment process. Mr. Chakradhar Babu encouraged private medical colleges to contribute to creating EHRs using ABHA IDs and assured them of all necessary technical support. NTRUHS Vice-Chancellor P.
