Police summon APC senator, Fadahunsi over alleged threat to ‘eliminate Accord members’

Osun State Police Command has summoned Osun East Senatorial District representative, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, over alleged threats to kill members of the Accord Party ahead of the upcoming governorship election. The accusation surfaced following a viral video where Fadahunsi was purportedly directing APC supporters to "eliminate" Accord Party members in certain areas of Ilesa during the electoral process.

This has raised concerns about potential political violence in the lead-up to the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

In a letter dated August 11, 2026, the police invited Fadahunsi to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged remarks. The invitation was signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, the Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in Osun State, and specified that the senator should report to the SCID at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 12.

The police stated that their summons was based on information indicating that Fadahunsi had made threatening, inciting, and intimidating statements during an APC campaign event in Ilesa.

The police claim that the video of Fadahunsi's comments has already been circulating on various electronic and social media platforms. As a result, the command intends to question Fadahunsi about the context of his remarks and their potential impact on peace and security during the election. The incident has occurred amidst increasing political tension in Osun as political parties ramp up their campaigns ahead of the gubernatorial poll on August 15.
