Police arrest four suspected gang members linked to Lagos killings, robbery

Last week, law enforcement officers in Lagos have apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in a criminal gang responsible for a series of murders, armed robberies, and cult-related activities within the Ajah district. According to a press release by the command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, the suspects were apprehended during extensive follow-up operations stemming from a prior robbery investigation.

The identified suspects are Kareem Abiodun, 26; Tansiru Emmanuel, 29; Lateef Usman, 28; and Alashe Azeez, 32. Preliminary investigations suggest that these suspects had ties to several robbery incidents in Ajah, Sangotedo, and Ibeju-Lekki. The suspects allegedly confessed to involvement in armed robbery, murder, and cult activities during questioning.

During the operation, police recovered three homemade firearms, a live round of ammunition, two battle axes, and a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine. The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries. Efforts are being made to apprehend other members of the alleged gang and recover additional evidence.

The suspects are expected to be charged upon the completion of investigations. The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, praised the officers for their diligence and directed them to continue their efforts to track down other gang members. He warned cultists, robbers, and violent criminals that the command would continue to use intelligence-led operations to apprehend those involved in criminal activities.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the command through its emergency lines.
