Pixel Watch 5 gets Gemini Intelligence, At a Glance, and more

The Pixel Watch 5 now features Gemini Intelligence, bringing advanced AI capabilities to Wear OS devices. As part of Google's Made by Google 2026 announcements, Gemini Intelligence introduces Proactive Suggestions, previously known as Magic Cue. With Google Messages, users receive one-tap actions, such as replying to messages with new phone numbers or locations, setting reminders, and checking schedules. The processing of these insights occurs on the Pixel 11, which then bridges the information to the watch.

Gemini Intelligence also expands on-device smart replies, now displaying three suggestions instead of one. The Gemini Nano model upgrade has increased speed by 50%. Additionally, task automation on the watch face enables starting tasks on a phone, like food ordering, and receiving updates on the Pixel Watch 5. When an offline command is required, an on-device model handles actions like setting timers, adjusting brightness, controlling music, opening apps, and initiating workouts.

The Gemini app receives a Neural Expressive visual update and can access Personal Intelligence and past chats for richer responses. Gemini can use Gmail, Calendar, Keep, and other connected apps to answer questions. The raise-to-talk gesture for Gemini is no longer restricted to the watch face.

To complement the AI enhancements, the Pixel Watch 5 introduces an "At a Glance" space at the bottom of watch faces. This area, distinct from the one on Pixel phones, provides richer and more informative content such as active timers, alarms, workouts, music, flight details, and navigation updates.
