Pelajar IPT didakwa bunuh warga emas

N Vishwesh, a 23-year-old medical college student, appeared in the Magistrate's Court in Telok Datok today charged with the murder of an elderly citizen, who passed away last week. N Vishwesh, the accused, only pleaded not guilty when the charge was read out to him by the court interpreter in front of Magistrate Maslinda Selamat, reported Bernama.

However, no plea was recorded due to the serious nature of the crime falling under the jurisdiction of the High Court. Based on the charge, he is accused of murdering Eng Kim Kheng @ Ng Kim Swee, a 78-year-old, at Kilometer 38, Jalan Klang-Banting-Port Dickson, Kuala Langat around 7:20 pm on August 7th. Prosecution against him was presented under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of death or imprisonment ranging from 30 to 40 years, as well as a mandatory minimum of 12 offenses, if found guilty.

Defense counsel Muhammad Amirul Syafiq Yazid argued on behalf of the accused, while N Vishwesh was represented by counsel T Mishant. The court denied bail and set a re-trial date for October 1st. Earlier, a video of the accident captured at the Kanchong Bengkok traffic light intersection showed the accused allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol while another individual lay with blood on his foot.
