Osun election: Former PDP aspirant throws weight behind Gov Adeleke

Former PDP aspirant Adedamola Adebayo, known as FRYO, has endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party ahead of the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election scheduled for August 15, 2026. Adebayo, who was not included on the final list of PDP gubernatorial candidates by INEC, made the announcement during a press conference in Osogbo on Wednesday.

He disclosed that his decision was the result of thorough consultations and a careful evaluation of the current political landscape in Osun State. Despite not being a candidate, Adebayo emphasized that the decision was not made hastily and was based on his belief in what was best for the state and its people. The former aspirant urged all PDP members, supporters, and structures in Osun State to peacefully back Governor Adeleke.

He acknowledged the diversity of opinions among his supporters and accepted full responsibility for his endorsement. Adebayo called on political leaders, candidates, and residents to refrain from violence, intimidation, hate speech, and political bitterness, emphasizing that the election should not disrupt the unity of the state. He urged eligible voters to participate in the election freely and peacefully.
