Osun election: Atiku’s aide blames Fadahunsi’s threat on Tinubu

Demola Olarenwaju, a senior political assistant to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has accused President Bola Tinubu of making a statement that has paved the way for extreme actions in the upcoming Osun State governorship election. Olarenwaju pointed a finger at Osun East senator, Francis Fadahunsi, claiming that his alleged inflammatory remarks were inspired by Tinubu's "all is fair in politics" statement.

Fadahunsi faced scrutiny after a video emerged, apparently showing him instructing his supporters to "kill" Accord Party members ahead of the election. However, the senator firmly denied ever advocating violence, stating that he was merely encouraging his supporters to "kill Accord" through the power of their votes, not through physical attacks.

Olarenwaju urged Fadahunsi to be arrested and prosecuted for his comments. He criticized the federal government for its apparent lack of action, stating that Fadahunsi's continued appearance on television rather than in the police station is evidence of federal complicity. Olarenwaju also dismissed Atiku's claims as an insult to the people's intelligence and called on Tinubu to stand by his "all is fair in politics" rhetoric, which he believes has set the stage for extreme actions by APC members.

According to Olarenwaju, Fadahunsi should be placed under house arrest until the conclusion of the Osun election campaigns, in order to warn others and give voters time to make informed decisions. He also accused the federal police of showing favoritism towards the APC, calling it an unacceptable violation of democratic principles.
