Osun Election: APC defends Sen Fadahunsi as Accord threatens legal action

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has defended Senator Francis Fadahunsi against accusations of inciting violence based on his remarks. In a statement, the APC claimed that Fadahunsi's comments were taken out of context and accused Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party of using the controversy for political gain ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The APC emphasized that they do not support jungle justice or violence and argued that the controversy surrounding Fadahunsi's comments was amplified by a misrepresented version of his remarks. The party pointed out that Adeleke's criticisms were likely related to Fadahunsi's defection from the PDP and recent political developments prior to the election.

Additionally, the APC cited endorsements from former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Fatai Akinbade, and Tajudeen Oladipo, suggesting that these endorsements influenced political calculations. The APC also accused the state government of failing to address alleged killings involving its members and supporters in Ijesaland and questioned the governor's response to the security situation.

However, the party reiterated that they do not endorse violence and that any allegations of threats or incitement should be handled through legal channels. Lawyers representing Olajengbesi, who is affiliated with the Accord Party, issued a formal demand for Fadahunsi, accusing him of defaming the party member by questioning his origins and associating him with cult groups and violence.

The lawyers demanded that Fadahunsi retract his statements, apologize publicly, and issue a written commitment not to repeat the allegations within 24 hours. Failure to comply would result in legal action seeking damages of ₦10 billion and other remedies under the law.
