NSA withholds 22,269 national service PIN codes over identity verification issues

The National Service Authority (NSA) has withheld PIN codes for 22,269 prospective national service personnel due to unresolved identity verification issues. This concerns graduates from various tertiary institutions who applied for the 2026/2027 National Service Year. According to the NSA's report on August 12, 21,311 submissions were rejected pending further identity verification, while 958 were approved but not promoted as they await additional checks.

Out of the 144,023 submissions, 122,712 were approved, resulting in the creation of records and PIN code release for 121,754 unique individuals. The withheld PINs are for those whose submissions passed validation and verification processes but are still awaiting further checks. The Authority emphasized its commitment to rigorous validation and verification in collaboration with regulatory bodies to maintain the integrity of the national service enrolment process and prevent duplicate, inflated, or irregular submissions.

The Authority has also urged tertiary institutions with unresolved accreditation status to engage the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for regularisation, as eligible personnel from such institutions could be processed once GTEC confirms their accreditation. For those with released PINs, online registration for the national service period, which spans from August 12 to August 26, 2026, is now open.

The NSA urges eligible personnel to complete the registration within the given timeframe to avoid deployment delays. Enhanced verification measures, including facial biometric checks against Ghana Card records and real-time verification mechanisms, are being employed to ensure accurate results. The 22,269 individuals still awaiting PIN codes will need to wait until the verification process concludes before accessing the registration platform. The exact timeline for completing the outstanding verification process remains undisclosed.
