Nicky Jam Drops ‘La Foto’ With Cuban Newcomer El Shadow After Discovering Him on Instagram

Nicky Jam has collaborated with Cuban newcomer El Shadow on his latest track, "La Foto," which premiered on Billboard on August 12. The song, released by Plus Media and EMM, fuses acoustic guitars with rhythmic Afrobeats, capturing Caribbean vibes and uplifting melodies. Written by El Shadow, whose real name is Raudel Gómez Hernández, the lyrics revolve around falling for someone and the bravery to approach them.

In the opening verse, Nicky Jam proclaims, "Nothing is impossible here/I wrote to her that I liked her." The catchy chorus emphasizes the infatuation and doubt experienced. Nicky Jam, a seasoned musician with a career spanning over three decades, has achieved numerous No. 1 hits and worked with artists like Enrique Iglesias, Bad Bunny, and Romeo Santos.

El Shadow, the Cuban newcomer featured in "La Foto," boasts 15,000 Instagram followers as of publication. The collaboration occurred organically when El Shadow shared a snippet of the track on his Instagram in February, inviting his followers to tag Nicky Jam in the comments. Intrigued by the potential fit, Nicky replied promptly, marking the beginning of a fruitful partnership.

El Shadow revealed, "I've done all my releases almost completely solo, but that day I wanted to upload a reel and tag an artist I know fits the song perfectly." Nicky Jam had previously collaborated with Cuban duo Charly y Johayron. The 26-year-old El Shadow, hailing from Camagüey, Cuba's third-largest city, began his musical journey at the age of 15, specializing in urban music.

In recent years, he has found his niche within the Latin Afrobeats genre, blending it with his deep and soothing vocals. El Shadow admires Colombian artist Kapo, citing his journey and message for new talent as his inspiration.
