Months after ‘suicide’ video, Gujarat man kills estranged wife in US

In the United States, a 32-year-old man from Gujarat, India, has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing his estranged wife to death. The incident occurred in Chicago, just months after the man had publicly expressed his emotional distress following his wife's departure.

Authorities found the victim, also 32, unresponsive at her apartment on August 9. She succumbed to her wounds at the scene. The accused was apprehended about nine hours later at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Family members revealed that the couple had relocated to the United States eight years ago. They alleged that the wife had left the husband twice before, each time leaving their five-year-old daughter in the husband's care. According to the relatives, the accused had sent his daughter back to India a few days prior to the murder.

On the day of the crime, the husband reportedly called his wife and asked her to take their daughter with her, a claim the family said was a ploy to lure her to the apartment. In May of this year, after the wife initially left the husband, the man posted a video in Gujarati expressing his contemplation of suicide and seeking help from relatives. However, the woman returned after a reportedly souring relationship with a younger man. But their reconciliation was brief, and she left the husband again.
