Mohanlal vows support for veteran actor Mohan Sharma in old-age home

Dubai: Renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal has pledged his assistance to veteran actor and producer Mohan Sharma, who is residing in an old-age home due to financial and health challenges. In a recent interview with Amrita News, Mohanlal expressed his deep concern upon learning about Sharma’s predicament. He reminisced about their long collaboration, highlighting their joint work on films such as Nellu and Chattakari, as well as Sharma’s production of successful movies like Ivide Thudangunnu.

The actor assured that they would provide whatever support is required for Sharma. Mohanlal also emphasized that discreet support is often more impactful than a public display of aid. Sharma, an accomplished actor with over 170 films to his credit, has been grappling with financial hardships and substantial medical expenses, including the cost of a major leg surgery and expensive medications.

His situation deteriorated to the point where he had to relocate to an old-age home. Sharma had previously received monetary aid from superstar Rajinikanth, who reportedly contributed Rs1 lakh after Sharma’s appeal for support. The veteran actor’s outreach to Sharma has once again brought attention to the plight of aging artists who continue to struggle financially after years of contribution to the film industry.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is currently embarked on an international tour of live shows. His Sydney performance was delayed when his Australian visa was not approved in time, leading to a trip to New Zealand, where he performed at The Trusts Arena in Auckland on August 9.
