Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government clears Rs 18 crore loan for sugar mill linked to BJP MLA

The Maharashtra government has granted an Rs 18 crore loan to a sugar factory linked to BJP MLA Abhimanyu Pawar, following a trend of financial support for cooperatives associated with ruling Mahayuti leaders. The loan will be used for capital expenditure and working capital by Killari’s Shri Nilkantheshwar Sugar Factory. The proposal, which has been approved as a special case, will now be forwarded to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for final approval.

This marks the third time a Pawar-linked cooperative has received state approval for an NCDC loan. The factory had initially sought the loan from the Pune Commissioner of Sugar. State approvals for politically connected cooperatives have been increasing, with Rs 768.19 crore in guarantees granted to five Kolhapur-based mills and similar support in other regions.
