Maharashtra To Set Up High-Level Panel To Reform Recruitment Examination System: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, 12th August 2026: Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the creation of a high-level committee to propose extensive reforms to the state's government recruitment examination system, with emphasis on enhanced security and transparency. The committee, led by Additional Chief Secretary V. Radha, will conduct extensive consultations across various revenue divisions and engage with stakeholders such as students, educational institution representatives, before presenting its recommendations.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Fadnavis in his official residence, with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also attending and offering suggestions. Fadnavis instructed officials to expedite the implementation of a recently passed central law addressing paper leaks and examination malpractices within the next two weeks, emphasizing that Maharashtra's existing legislation lacks the stricter measures found in the central law.

Additionally, the government will establish at least 25,000 secure classrooms statewide for exam conduct. The meeting also explored strengthening coordination among district collectors, police commissioners, superintendents of police, and senior education officials in the administration of recruitment exams. Officials examined examination practices in other countries, current procedures in Maharashtra, and potential measures to bolster security and curb malpractices.
