KUMACA launches 70th anniversary celebration with focus on shaping character and cultivating minds

Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) is set to celebrate its 70th anniversary on 8 August 2026, with a focus on shaping character and cultivating minds. The theme for the anniversary is "Shaping Character, Cultivating Minds and Nursing Souls." The event, which gathered alumni, students, parents, and community stakeholders, including government officials, traditional leaders, and educators, aims to reflect on the school's achievements and prepare for future challenges and opportunities.

During the launch, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, emphasized the importance of discipline in education, urging students not to assault teachers or vandalize school property. He emphasized the need for students to use established procedures for seeking justice and redress. The Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, Ben Abdallah Alhasan, pledged the Assembly's support for KUMACA's goal of achieving Grade A status.

He called for a collective effort to enhance schools and create an environment conducive to student excellence and talent development.

KUMACA's Global President, KAPSA AKUNINI H.E. Okunini Harry Boakye, affirmed the dedication of past students to the school's development, highlighting their role in supporting teaching, learning, and infrastructure. Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakesehene and Chairperson for the occasion, expressed his emotional connection to KUMACA, emphasizing the school's significance in the lives of generations of students and alumni.

Looking ahead to 2027, KUMACA is positioning the anniversary as a call for stakeholders to invest in the school's future. It invites alumni to contribute resources, mentorship, and expertise; parents and guardians to partner in nurturing disciplined and excellent students; and students to uphold values of character, scholarship, and service.

Teachers, staff, community leaders, and other stakeholders are also encouraged to support initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, student welfare, and educational programs. The celebration seeks to honor KUMACA's legacy while strengthening its position among Ghana's leading schools by focusing on discipline, collaboration, character development, and academic excellence.
