Karoline Leavitt to step down as Trump’s White House press secretary

Karoline Leavitt, the youngest individual to ever serve as the White House Press Secretary, will be departing the Trump administration at the conclusion of the month. She announced her decision to step down in a social media post, stating it was a "bittersweet" choice. Leavitt, 28, recently gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Viviana, in May, and has a 2-year-old son.

She believes that after returning to the White House, she can no longer dedicate the necessary time, energy, and attention to her role as Press Secretary while being the best mother to her young children.

President Donald Trump, who announced Leavitt's departure, expressed his understanding and respect for her decision. He stated that she would join him as a top outside advisor and an influential voice within the Republican Party, aiming to "defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections."

Leavitt's role as Press Secretary over the past year and a half has been the most significant experience and adventure of her life. Prior to joining the Trump campaign, she served as a spokesperson for MAGA Inc., a super PAC supporting Trump, and ran for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022. She had previously worked in the White House press office and as a communications director for New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik. Trump did not specify who would replace Leavitt in the high-profile role.
