January weddings cheapest in Korea, saving couples more than $2,300

A recent survey in South Korea revealed that couples who tie the knot in January can save up to $2,300 compared to those who marry in April. The Korea Consumer Agency conducted a study analyzing wedding service contract prices across 14 regions nationwide from April last year to June this year. The findings showed that the average cost of a wedding in January was 19.13 million won (approximately $13,700), which is 3.25 million won (about $2,300) less than the average cost of $22.38 million won (around $16,000) in April, the most expensive month.

Throughout the peak season, from March to June and September to December, the average wedding expense reached 21.56 million won (about $15,400), which is 2.02 million won (around $1,400) higher than the 19.54 million won (approximately $14,000) average during the off-season months of January, February, July, and August. Additionally, wedding venue costs also differed significantly depending on the season, with the median venue cost during the peak season standing at 16.1 million won (about $11,300).
