Jalgaon: Youth Must Embrace Social Responsibility And Stay Away From Drugs: SP Shrikant Dhivare

Providing higher education to young people in Jalgaon is not sufficient, according to District Superintendent of Police Shrikant Dhivare. He stressed that young people must also embrace social responsibility, moral values, patriotism, and concern for society’s welfare. This message was delivered during a drug-awareness initiative called ‘Mission RISE’, organized by the Jalgaon District Police under the State Government’s Drug-Free Maharashtra Campaign.

Dhivare emphasized that a young person’s energy and potential should be directed towards nation-building instead of addiction.

The superintendent urged the young attendees of G.H. Raisoni College to channel their abilities into productive activities rather than substance abuse. He highlighted the need for all stakeholders, including students, parents, educational institutions, and society at large, to collaborate in preventing drug abuse. The campaign aims to reach at least one lakh young men and women, with the additional objective of strengthening the fight against the illegal drug network in the district by engaging young people in awareness efforts.

Dhivare visited colleges and interacted directly with students, addressing the issue beyond an individual problem. He cautioned against succumbing to peer pressure or temptation, advising students to concentrate on their education, career goals, sports, and other constructive pursuits. He also highlighted the importance of good company, positive thinking, and open communication within families in helping young people avoid addiction.

The superintendent called upon students to share the drug-free lifestyle message with their peers and communities.

Prof. Dr Preeti Agrawal, Director of G.H. Raisoni Institute, echoed Dhivare’s sentiments during the event. She warned that drug abuse can negatively impact a student’s health, education, career, and family life. Agrawal urged students to steer clear of addiction and mentor their friends towards healthy and positive choices. She appreciated the police for bringing the campaign directly to educational institutions, which received support from notable attendees like Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Gavit and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sahyadri Birde.
