Ipswich agree fee for Paraguay forward Enciso

Ipswich Town have secured an agreement to sign young forward Julio Enciso from fellow French club Strasbourg. Twenty-two-year-old Enciso, a Paraguayan international, demonstrated his talent under Ipswich's current manager, Gary O'Neil, during his time at Strasbourg last season. O'Neil, who took the reins at Portman Road this summer, had been pushing for Enciso's return to the club he managed previously. This move would also be Enciso's second stint at Portman Road, following a half-year loan spell with Brighton in 2025.

Strasbourg, a club sharing ownership with Chelsea through the BlueCo group, valued Enciso's potential so highly that they initially believed he might even join their Premier League rivals in the future. While the exact fee remains undisclosed, sources suggest it will represent a significant portion of Ipswich's remaining transfer budget and generate a substantial profit for Strasbourg, considering the £13.8m they paid for him last summer.

Ipswich has already made ten major signings this summer, including Daizen Maeda from Celtic, Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City, and club-record signing Emerson from Toulouse. The news of Enciso's impending arrival is unclear whether his transfer fee will surpass the £24m Ipswich paid for Emerson earlier in the transfer window.

Having recently returned to the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship, Ipswich Town are set to kick off their new campaign at home against Sunderland on August 22nd.
