I owe Villa the world but Man Utd are above them – Tielemans

Youri Tielemans, the 29-year-old Belgian midfielder, has completed a £35 million move from Aston Villa to Manchester United this summer. Although he had previously met with the club in 2019 and 2022, it was this July that the Old Trafford club triggered the player's £35 million release clause, securing his transfer. Tielemans expressed his gratitude towards Aston Villa, acknowledging that they played a significant role in his development and helped him reach his best level.

However, he firmly believes that Manchester United is one of the clubs above Villa in his career. He emphasized that achieving success in a club like Manchester United means a player has done well in their career, but it doesn't mark the end of their journey. The Belgian has also highlighted the natural development of his partnership with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, noting that Fernandes easily finds space for him on the field.

Despite playing 668 games for both club and country, Tielemans revealed that he experienced an overload of games and minutes during the World Cup, leading to an issue in the warm-up that forced him to withdraw from Belgium's quarter-final clash with Spain. He acknowledged that while he is not a player who requires constant rest, the manager must make informed decisions based on his performance.

Tielemans has had several familiar faces assisting him in settling into Manchester United, including his former Leicester teammate Jonny Evans, who provided a character reference to head coach Michael Carrick. Additionally, Rashford's return to his boyhood club has further strengthened the team's dynamics.
