I bled throughout the night, abducted Kogi captive recounts ordeal

Six victims of a kidnapping incident along roads in Kogi State recounted their harrowing experiences to police on Tuesday. Joshua Daniel, one of the rescued, detailed how he bled throughout the night after being cut by one of the abductors. The attack occurred on Sunday, August 9, 2026, when armed criminals targeted commuters. The joint security team, comprising the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police Force, local vigilantes and hunters, engaged the criminals in a fierce firefight, ultimately forcing them to abandon the victims and escape into the forest.

Daniel and other survivors were rescued by the security forces, who are now documenting and assessing their condition before reunifying them with their families. The Army praised the efforts of the rescue team and urged residents to remain vigilant against similar criminal activities.
