Hull sign defender Mendy for club record fee

Hull City have made history by signing Senegal defender Nobel Mendy from Rayo Vallecano for a club record fee, while also securing centre-back Lucas Herrington from Colorado Rapids. Mendy, 21, commits to a five-year contract with an option for another year. The undisclosed fee surpasses the £20m plus add-ons paid earlier this month to Greece goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.

Hull's previous transfer record, set in 2016, dated back to the £13m paid for Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason. Mendy expressed his excitement about joining the club, stating he is a defensive player who has long dreamed of playing in the Premier League. Belgium-born Herrington, who made two appearances for Australia at the World Cup, joined Hull on a five-year deal, emphasizing his passion for the Premier League and his eagerness to contribute to the team.
