Honor’s Robot Phone Has a Gimbal-Powered Camera for Vloggers

Honor's new Robot Phone features a motorized camera that pops up from the top, designed to cater to mobile content creators. The phone, priced at 9,999 RMB (approximately $1,482), is a China-exclusive device and currently unavailable in the US. Weighing just 248 grams, the phone boasts a 6.3-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and a 7,060-mAh battery.

Its standout feature is the gimbal-powered 200-megapixel main camera, along with a 200-megapixel telephoto and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, combined with a 50-megapixel selfie shooter. The gimbal camera offers 4 degrees of freedom, can be activated through the camera app or a palm motion, and rotates 300 degrees. It also includes shock-absorbing glass protection and a magnetic stand for hands-free usage.

The Robot Phone can track subjects during video calls and integrate with Honor's AI assistant, Yoyo, which responds to voice commands and mimics facial expressions. Although its water and dust resistance is reduced when the gimbal is deployed, Honor has implemented software safeguards to prevent accidental damage. The phone also supports Arri workflows, making it a potential tool for filmmakers.

Despite its innovative features, Honor has not provided specific details about the gimbal's durability.
