Govt ready to debate NEET, Oppn not: Rijiju

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress of avoiding a debate on the NEET paper leak and ensuing student protests. He stated that the government was ready to hold the discussion, but the Opposition was not. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, offering to answer any questions on the matter.

Rijiju expressed his frustration at the Opposition's unwillingness to engage in dialogue, emphasizing that it was detrimental to democracy. Shah challenged the Opposition to submit a formal letter by 2 pm for a debate to begin at 3 pm, and proposed a 24-hour discussion window, pledging to stay present in the House to answer all queries.

The government's offer for an immediate discussion was met with protests from Opposition MPs outside Parliament, who demanded answers regarding alleged police excesses during a recent protest.
