Gemini Becomes Google’s Fastest Growing Product Ever — Crosses Billion Users

Google's Gemini app has reached a major milestone, becoming the company's fastest-growing product ever by surpassing 1 billion monthly active users. CEO Sundar Pichai made the announcement on August 11, placing Gemini at a similar scale to OpenAI's ChatGPT app. Gemini has experienced rapid growth over the past year, with its user base expanding from 400 million monthly users at Google I/O in May 2025 to over 950 million in July.

The app has been integrated across Android and Google's broader product ecosystem, with additional models and features like Gemini 3.5 Flash being added. Gemini's success is driven by heavy use of voice and image generation, with 63% of users interacting through voice and 38% of requests including attachments. The app also automates actions across more than 40 Android apps and has gained traction on Apple devices, with over 100 million active users on iOS.

This milestone comes before Google's upcoming Made by Google event, where additional Gemini-powered features for Pixel devices are expected to be introduced.
