GCC secretary-general, Egyptian foreign minister reaffirm strong ties

Last night, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Egypt's Foreign Minister met in Alamein, Egypt, to bolster ties between the GCC and Egypt. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi to the city. The pair discussed a range of issues to deepen cooperation and review the GCC-Egypt joint action plan for 2024-2028.

The two officials explored ways to strengthen relations across various sectors, highlighting the importance of the inaugural Gulf-Egyptian Investment Forum in promoting trade. The forum's continued operation was emphasized due to its role in boosting economic ties between the two regions. Both parties voiced support for regional and international efforts to bolster security and stability, and to settle disputes through peaceful dialogue.

Albudaiwi expressed gratitude for Egypt's assistance to GCC states amid threats from Iran. In response, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed his nation's unity with the GCC and its stance against any aggression against its territories, stressing that the security of GCC states is a crucial component of Egypt's national security.
