FG trains 239,726 Nigerians through youth academy

The Federal Government has trained 239,726 Nigerian youths through the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), according to Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande. The initiative was launched to equip young Nigerians with digital, employability and practical skills to help them navigate the changing world of work and access economic opportunities.

Olawande revealed that 1,215,203 certificates have been downloaded from the NiYA platform, indicating a growing interest among young people in acquiring new skills. The Minister also announced that 200 young business owners received N1 million each under the NiYA StartUp initiative, while another 200 young people in the informal sector received N500,000 each to support their businesses.

The Federal Government's partnership with Cascador Founders will provide additional support to selected young entrepreneurs through access to capital, business development support and enterprise growth opportunities. Olawande stressed that the government's commitment is to ensure that young Nigerians not only acquire skills but also have access to the opportunities and support necessary to turn their ideas into sustainable businesses.

Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, called for sustained investment in youth development and urged stronger collaboration among government institutions, development partners, the private sector and youth-led organizations.
