Doha Design District announces four winning projects of its Public Art Open Call

Doha Design District has revealed the four winning projects from its Public Art Open Call, selected from a shortlist of 20 proposals after a rigorous review process. The jury, comprised of experts from Msheireb Properties, Qatar Museums, and Qatar Creates, along with community voting, determined the winning designs.

The winning entries are: Gravity Drops Along a Surface Maraj, A sculptural public landscape meant to inspire interaction and play; Desert in Motion by Dana Anas, Architect; An organic installation inspired by sand dune forms; Whispering Leaves by Guillaume Rousere & Maryam Faraj Al-Suwaidi; An interactive listening sculpture inviting people to pause and connect with their environment; and Fanayeen Boo Design Studio; A large-scale installation interpreting the traditional Majlis as a tent crafted from nearly 30,000 suspended Arabic coffee cups.

Doha Design District Director, Dana Kazic, expressed gratitude towards the participants and their passion for design, emphasizing the district's commitment to fostering public participation in shaping their urban spaces. The jury emphasized that each project demonstrated creativity and authenticity, making the selection a challenging task. They encouraged all applicants to keep pursuing their creative aspirations.
