David Oscar renews call for African unity with ‘Africa As One’

Ghanaian reggae musician David Oscar Dogbe has reignited his plea for African unity through his latest single, Africa As One. This track, released on June 27th, 2026, aims to rekindle the spirit of Pan-Africanism by promoting a shared identity among Africans and promoting collaboration for the continent's growth. David Oscar sees the song as a tribute to Africa’s rich history and a reminder to Africans to reconnect with the principles upheld by the continent’s liberation leaders and Pan-African intellectuals.

During his annual music festival, Reggae Spot Unplugged, David Oscar performed an emotionally powerful rendition of the song. He highlighted the continent's vast human talent and natural resources, yet acknowledged that Africa continues to struggle with divisions resulting from colonial borders, political conflicts, xenophobia, and economic reliance.

David Oscar emphasized that the key to Africa's strength is unity, quoting Pan-Africanists like Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara, Julius Nyerere, and Patrice Lumumba to inspire his message.

Pan-Africanism has historically campaigned for African solidarity, political cooperation, economic independence, and cultural pride.
