Arne Slot explains decision to withdraw from Netherlands coaching talks

Arne Slot has explained his decision to withdraw from coaching talks with the Dutch national team. The former Liverpool manager revealed that he had entered negotiations with the Royal Dutch Football Association but ultimately decided to step back. Slot's withdrawal was not due to disagreements over contract terms, such as salary or duration, as some reports suggested.

These reports were incorrect, according to Slot. Speaking to Voetbal International, he emphasized his desire to work with players on a daily basis in a club environment, a challenge that is more feasible at the club level compared to national teams. Ronald Koeman recently resigned as the Netherlands head coach following the team's World Cup exit on penalty kicks to Morocco in the round of 32 last June.

Reports also indicated that Roberto Martinez, the former Portugal national team manager, is currently in talks with the Dutch FA about the position. Slot expressed respect for the Netherlands team and the national association, stating that while coaching the national side would be a great honor in the future, the time is not right for him to take on that role.
