On Sunday, a staggering 4,264 DAP representatives from 1,704 branches will cast votes on whether to remain in or leave the federal government. Kuala Lumpur: The Perak DAP has decided to continue its presence in the unity government, rallying the entire party to fulfill the people's mandate and carry on the national reform agenda.

The Perak DAP clarified the decision in a statement, asserting that it was taken to energize the entire party in meeting the people's mandate and executing the election promises under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's leadership. According to the statement, Anwar's leadership has proven successful in implementing various reforms over the past three years of governance, while simultaneously enhancing Malaysia's image and standing on the global stage.

The DAP must continue proving its capability through achievements and performance to not disappoint the people's expectations. By remaining in the government, we can continue to implement Pakatan Harapan's manifesto, including institutional reform, judicial independence, anti-corruption efforts, reduction of living costs, national income system reforms, and guaranteeing diverse community rights and freedoms, as per the statement.

Perak DAP stresses the need to fully realize this foundation during this phase to drive reform and propel national development for the people's prosperity, despite facing various challenges. The party is also committed to mobilizing all its strength to fulfill the people's mandate while adhering to the Malaysia struggle's aspirations and remembering the battle's oath.

This statement also emphasizes that to maintain an inclusive and progressive multi-ethnic political strength, DAP must remain in the Unity Government to balance and prevent extremist forces from continuing to grow. Malaysia has witnessed four Prime Ministers within the last seven years, and political instability has weakened the economy and investor confidence.

This painful experience cannot be repeated, so DAP cannot disappoint the mandate given by the people. "The party must shoulder the responsibility to continue being in the unity government until the end of the term to maintain political stability, implement reform, prove achievements, and regain the people's confidence. This is the right and responsible path," the statement concluded.

This stance was formulated as the DAP National Congress 2026 approached on Sunday, determining the party's direction - whether to remain or leave the Federal Government, until the end of the current Parliamentary term and the subsequent nomination by DAP Deputy General Secretary Loke Siew Fook. The decision on the related vote will be determined through the 4,264 representatives from 1,704 branches that can attend the congress at the International Convention Centre Putrajaya (PICC).
