CodeRabbit Raises $143M To Govern AI Software Development

CodeRabbit has raised $143 million in Series C funding, bringing the company's valuation to $1.5 billion. This round of financing was co-led by Atomico and Smash Capital, with participation from BMW i Ventures, Datadog, Hirtle Callaghan, and SineWave Ventures. Existing investors CRV, Scale Venture Partners, and Flex Capital also joined the round.

CodeRabbit reported a fivefold increase in revenue year-over-year, processing over two million code reviews weekly for 17,000 customers, including industry leaders like Adyen, BMW, Indeed, JFrog, NVIDIA, and Trivago. The company will allocate the additional capital towards international expansion, research, and product development, investing over $10 million in open-source support to keep its AI review and agent capabilities accessible to the broader developer community.

As AI coding tools enable software development at unprecedented speed, independent governance is becoming essential. CodeRabbit's platform addresses this need by reviewing code changes using repository context, organisational standards, and testing evidence, highlighting blast radius and architectural dependencies that require additional scrutiny.

The company's latest offering, Agentic Change Management, extends its AI code review capabilities to prioritisation, explanation, and continuous security monitoring, helping engineering teams understand which changes demand attention. By expanding its AI-powered security product, CodeRabbit aims to identify vulnerabilities that traditional rule-based tools may miss, such as authorisation bypasses, insecure object references, and business-logic flaws.

With a new London office and plans to expand into Europe, Japan, and other Asian markets, CodeRabbit believes its model-agnostic approach will become increasingly crucial for maintaining software quality as AI adoption accelerates.
