Chaos at Kulim court as two accused flee police

Chaos erupted at the Kulim Court compound in Malaysia when two men accused of a violent crime broke free from police officers attempting to re-arrest them. The incident, which occurred at 10am, was captured on video and quickly spread across social media. District police chief Superintendent Syamsul Sinring confirmed the events, revealing that the men had been due in Kulim magistrate's court for a case related to a complaint filed in Serdang.

Both accused face charges under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon or means, and Section 353 for obstructing a public servant.

During the court proceedings, deputy public prosecutor Anuarul Hakim Abdul Muen sought bail for the two accused at RM10,000, with conditions that they report to a police station, avoid harassing the victim or prosecution witnesses, and surrender their passports to the court. Despite the higher bail amount, the accused, who had no legal representation, requested a reduced sum, citing unemployment and the inability of their wives to post bail.

The court ultimately granted bail at RM7,000, subject to the additional conditions requested by the prosecution, with a deadline of September 15 for submitting documents and appointing counsel.

Allegedly, the incident in Serdang involved one of the accused striking the complainant with a padlock and snatching his mobile phone, resulting in injuries to the complainant's nose and back.
