Canadian Armed Forces testing drones with manufacturers Wednesday

The Canadian Armed Forces is conducting an event with drone manufacturers today to test their platforms in real-world scenarios. The event, known as the RED COBALT Uncrewed Systems Accelerator, is taking place at a NATO test center in the Ottawa Valley, specifically designed for evaluating cutting-edge technologies. The Canadian government is keen to rapidly integrate more drones into their operations due to the technology's rapid development and growing significance in contemporary warfare.

Lt.-Gen. Darcy Molstad, the commander of the Canadian Joint Forces Command, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the military and industry to foster innovation swiftly. He stated that such events facilitate direct interaction between military drone operators and industry experts, enabling discussions on the development of these platforms.

Molstad is overseeing the Canadian Armed Forces' efforts to determine the various types and combinations of new uncrewed platforms required for the military, including the cost-effective drones previously utilized in the Ukraine conflict.
